Being an imitator is commendable. There is nothing demeaning. As long as you do not void your self.
Some important historical / spiritual characters have said, "Be my imitators." Yes, we must reflect on those who have succeeded and who have been able to excel in the different fields of life, be it spiritual, professional, academic, family, personal or intellectual.
After all, if we know people who have reached a high degree of evolution in such fields, why not try to tread their paths? Why not copy them?
Sometimes we imitate or adopt so many "fashions" in talking or dressing that lead nowhere, so why not seek to reflect on healthy habits, good customs or other characteristics that can contribute to a better "I"?
Look at a beautiful, well-structured family, full of love and respect and seek out the ingredients of it, taking them, even if only partially, to yours.
See a successful professional. What books does he read, what is his background, what is his stance in speaking, walking, and leading different situations? Mind that.
Accompany a student who excels in his or her course. What are the methodologies adopted? How is your discipline for study? Do you have techniques of memorization or assimilation of matter? Try to break it down.
Do you know someone who dresses well, talks well, writes well, excels in a particular sport, who is easy to relate to? Track your steps and absorb some of its features.
Do you admire a certain spiritual leader? Seek to bring your essence into your life and apply its main precepts.
Obviously, at no time should we lose our identity, making ourselves false to ourselves. However, we can give up some of our "I" to let virtues, abilities, qualities, and other characteristics that contribute to our evolution in general.
Be a good and selective copycat!
May the ETERNAL be with you and in you, today and in all your days!
